Through Qualico’s commitment to reconciliation, education, community investment, and Indigenous engagement, GDI participates in initiatives that help create meaningful opportunities and lasting relationships with First Nations communities.

Current First Nations Projects

Ka Ni Kanichihk New Facility (2022-present)

GDI is actively involved in the construction of the Ka Ni Kanichihk facility at 445 McDermot. This project is part of Qualico’s broader commitment, which includes a contribution of up to $500,000 through cash and gift-in-kind support. GDI’s involvement specifically includes the gift-in-kind contribution valued at up to $62,500.

Supporting Qualico’s commitment to lifelong learning

Through partnerships established by Qualico and its diverse business units, Indigenous learners are provided with pathways into the skilled trades and construction industry.

RRC Intro to Trades

Partnership with RRC Polytech (2025-2029) providing training pathways for Indigenous learners.

Bridge To Success

Supporting Indigenous students at University of Manitoba.

Ongoing skills development through MCSC, North Pine Training, job fairs, and Truth & Reconciliation education.

Community Engagement

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

As part of Qualico’s sponsorship of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Truth and Reconciliation Game, suite and game tickets are provided to Indigenous partner organizations and community groups.

Clan Mothers Healing Village

In 2024, Qualico supported construction of the centre through a gift-in-kind contribution valued at up to $250,000.

Rossbrook House

A regional charitable partner aligned with Qualico’s commitment to lifelong education and community investment. Qualico supported various initiatives primarily benefiting Indigenous youth and vulnerable community members.

Additional Reconciliation Strategies

Partnership with Southern Chief’s Organization

GDI plans to partner with and utilize the Southern Chief’s Organization’s Staffing Company and Software – Miikahnah Connect. This platform will be instrumental in sourcing First Nations talent and businesses for projects.

Ongoing Education and Awareness

Encouraging all team members to engage with Truth and Reconciliation courses available on our internal learning management system to foster a deeper understanding and respect for Indigenous cultures and histories.

Commitment to Diverse Projects

Continuing support for diverse First Nations projects, generating awareness through our employees as part of our commitment to reconciliation. This includes ongoing engagement and internal promotional efforts to keep reconciliation at the forefront of our activities.
